Today we are going to talk about the most important decisions for new and growing agents to make. There are five that you will need to know:
1. Choose the right brokerage. You need a broker who offers very strong training, a great mentoring program, and a great culture. The culture should be vibrant, supportive, and aligned with your values.
2. Start a written plan. I recommend writing out one-year, three-year, and five-year plans. Gary Keller has a great saying: “Agents tend to overestimate what they can do in one year, and way underestimate what can be achieved in five years.” Keep that in mind as you are writing your plan.
“A team will provide financial support to help you build your business.”
3. Invest in the business. Real estate has a low cost to entry, but a high cost to be successful. Marketing, branding, advertising, and more are outside the budget of a lot of new agents when they first start. If you fall into that category, you might want to consider joining a team. A team will provide financial support to help you accomplish your goal of increased business.
4. Study and learn as much as you can. If you can really set yourself apart and become an expert, you are going to be way ahead.
5. Work on your business. Do not just work on daily transactions. Work on the process and systems and procedures you need to grow your business.
